How Deem is Helping Toyota
When one of the world’s leading automotive companies needed the corporate travel technology to create a better business travel program, Deem was there to help save the day.
Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, has been operating in North America for more than 60 years, overseeing operations in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Operations at TMNA include research and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, after sales and corporate functions.
TMNA operates 14 sales regions, 8 vehicle manufacturing facilities and 5 parts manufacturing centers and is committed to advancing sustainable, next generation mobility.
Inside of this organization alone, TMNA has over 13,000 active travelers that need a travel solution that helps encourage adoption and control costs. That’s where Etta, powered by Deem, stepped in.
With Etta, TMNA travel program adoption rates jumped up to 80%.
“We’re really happy with our 80% adoption of the Etta platform,” says Rebecca Jeffries, Travel Services Manager, Toyota Motor North America. “This helps us lower costs and achieve our transaction expense budget. Our travelers love using the platform and especially like the 24/7 self-service functionality.”
Any organization can benefit from the improved adoption that Etta can bring. As a matter of fact, travel programs with higher adoption rates have more control over their costs. High user adoption provides valuable data that travel managers can leverage in negotiations for improved rates.
Toyota also recently implemented an Uber for Business account to help optimize their rideshare usage and spend. They are one of the first users to link their Uber for Business account with the Etta platform and onboard their employees.
Uber for Business and Etta streamlines the corporate travel booking experience by giving travelers a way to search for and request a ride on demand or up to 90 days in advance. Better yet, Uber for Business and Etta gives travelers access to a corporate account to pay for rides, so they don’t have to expense it later.
When Etta is linked to an Uber for Business account, travel managers also get full visibility into the travel activity of their team. An intuitive dashboard delivers a clear view of traveler activity in real-time that helps improve duty of care efforts for the entire company.
“We want travelers to make the most cost-effective decision when it comes to ground transportation and with the ability to schedule Uber rides in the Etta app, that is an easier process for them,” says Jeffries. “Another benefit is we are always trying to introduce new innovative features so that our travelers want to use the system.”
Since connecting their Uber for Business account with the Etta platform Toyota has increased the ability to enforce their travel policy and enhance compliance efforts by growing their employee linkage rate by 61%.
Uber for Business offers customizable products that allow traveler managers to better enforce T&E policy by setting parameters on usage for things like pickup and drop-off locations, ride type, and more. These custom controls help govern how employees request rides within the Uber and Etta app, facilitating compliant rides.
